Accessibility
What we aim for, what we check on every release, what we have not checked yet, and how to tell us about a barrier.
The short version
- WCAG 2.2 AAThe standard we aim for. Today we are partially conformant, and this page says where.
- Checked every releaseAutomated accessibility rules on every public page and the app's main views, in Chromium and WebKit.
- Not yet checkedScreen readers, voice control, Firefox and an independent audit.
- Tell usEmail us with "Accessibility" in the subject, or use the contact form.
We want everyone to be able to order an audit, read it and use the app, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, a screen magnifier, voice control, or high-contrast and reduced-motion settings. This page says what we aim for, what we check on every release, what we have not checked yet, and how to tell us about a barrier.
01The standard we aim for
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, published by the W3C.
Where we are: partially conformant. In W3C's terms, that means parts of the site and app do not yet fully meet the standard. We say this rather than claim full conformance because the checks below are automated and our own; no independent audit, and no person who uses assistive technology every day, has reviewed Quinndatum yet.
02What this covers
- The public site at quinndatum.com: every page in its menu and footer.
- The app at quinndatum.com/app: sign-in, sign-up, the contact form, the dashboard and its tools.
- What the app gives you to download: the audit report and the data exports.
Card payment happens on Stripe's own checkout form, which Stripe builds and maintains.
03What we check on every release
- Automated rules. axe-core 4.10 runs the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules on the app's sign-in, sign-up and contact pages, the dashboard's main views and the admin, in both the light and the dark theme, and on every page of the public site at desktop and phone width. A serious or critical problem stops the release.
- Two browser engines. Every public page, the app's forms, the dashboard and the admin are loaded in Chromium (Chrome and Edge) and in WebKit, the engine behind Safari, and must run without a script error.
- Touch targets. Every link and button on the public pages, and every control on the sign-in and sign-up forms, is at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Colour contrast. Text colours are checked against their background at 4.5:1 or better, in both of the app's themes.
04What is built in
- Every page starts with a link that skips straight to its content, the first stop for the keyboard, and has one main content area.
- Keyboard focus is always visible. A dialog keeps focus inside it while it is open and returns focus to the button that opened it.
- The app follows your device's light or dark setting.
- When your device asks for reduced motion, animations stop, and the 3D robot on the home page does not load.
- Results are text, not pictures of text, so they can be read aloud, enlarged and copied.
05What we have not checked yet
- Automated rules find only some of the problems that matter. No independent accessibility audit has been done.
- We have not yet tested with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) or with voice control.
- Firefox is not yet part of the automated browser runs.
- The downloadable audit report has not been checked with a screen reader.
These are the next things we will test. When one is done, this page will say so, with its date.
06Browsers and requirements
Quinndatum works in the current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. The app needs JavaScript; the public pages can be read without it, apart from the menu's drop-down lists (every page they list is also in the footer), the 3D robot and the short product film.
07Tell us about a barrier
Email info@quintessentianetwork.com with "Accessibility" in the subject, or use the contact form. It helps to say which page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use. A person reads every message. We will fix the barrier, or tell you plainly what we can do instead, and send you the information you need in a format that works for you.
